Knife-making workshop with a local smith

In this workshop you make your own Finnish puukko knife the traditional way, guided by the Johkula smith. You choose a blade and shape the handle from curly birch and reindeer hide, and the smith shows you how to finish and sharpen the knife. While you work, you hear stories from the smithy's hundred-year history.

The workshop

  • €79 per person, about 3 hours
  • Starts at 13:00 on Wednesdays and Saturdays
  • Tuition, blade, handle materials, leather sheath and coffee included – the finished knife is yours to keep
  • All year round
  • Up to 8 participants, recommended age 12+ (minors with an adult)

Good to know: The smithy is 5 km from the resort; directions come with your booking confirmation. Wear clothes that can get dirty. The workshop is run by our partner Johkulan Paja and sold by Johku Resort.

Note: This is a Johku demo shop. Bookings are examples and will not take place.
